The Round Table

The Knights of the round table is a basic blue print to how forms of government, fraternities, and other organizations are structured. Each Knight at the round table had a specific job that they were suppose to take care of and report back to the table to let the others know what was going on. Governments and fraternities today operate on the same principles, which shows how much things have not changed over thousands of years. The round table is a good system since it allows for different minds to work together to be able to come to a decision based on a group instead of one person just making a decision. The round table is one of the first democratic styles of decision making, and ahead of its time.

My question to my fellow bloggers is how do you feel about this comparison, and does it make you think that the old say "if its ain't broke don't fix it" applies to the comparison?

  1. Jock,
I think it's definitely safe to say that this was the basic blueprint for government systems around the world. I agree that this is the way a democratic government functions, each knight is like the Senate, House, or different deparments of the Cabinet. I like the image you added, also because it's nice to see each knights' crest and see their symbol and maybe it would be interesting to research what each knights duty was within the table.

  2. Thanks for agreeing it is just an interesting topic that has a lot of similarities. It is nice to see that some things not to differ to much even from thousands of years ago.

  4. Oh for sure! I 100% agree with the fact that we have not changed much. Many people who don't know these stories or backgrounds think that the middle ages were made up of savage people, so are they calling their own savage? Just saying!

  6. Yes this is true most people think that the middle ages was just barbaric, and that nothing good came out of it. In fact a lot of the principles and laws that me have today are just modified throughout history to suit the needs of the people of the time period.
